Jaleel Drones-Akins is currently a junior at the University of Michigan pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive Science. He aims to build a career at the intersection of data, software, and decision-making, with an interest in data science or quantitative research. He is motivated by the ability of data to uncover patterns, improve systems, and drive strategy. During the 2024-2025 academic year, Jaleel pursued targeted professional development, earning certifications in SQL and Python, and last summer participated in a Data Science Fellowship with JPMorgan Chase in Chicago, Illinois, where he worked within data analytics. On campus, Jaleel serves as Membership Chair for the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), supporting recruitment, engagement, and community-building for the organization. He is also a member of the Global Scholars Program (GSP), which develops interculturally competent leaders through global learning and engagement. As a JRF Scholar, Jaleel participated in the Boeing Engineering Enrichment Track (BEET), a one-year career preparation program for STEM students, particularly Scholars interested in Engineering and Technology.
